Background

The European Union’s Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive will be implemented in member states during 2005 and 2006. There are several obligations imposed on Inepro as a producer of electrical and electronic equipment. Inepro’s compliance approach for each of these obligations is provided below.

1) Product Design

Inepro’s Design for Recycling Standard is used to ensure that the design and production of Inepro branded electrical and electronic equipment takes into account the dismantling and recovery of WEEE and its components and materials.

2) WEEE Marking

All Inepro products that are subject to the WEEE Directive shipped from Inepro from August 13th 2005 are compliant with the WEEE marking requirements. Such products are marked with the “crossed out wheelie bin” WEEE symbol shown below in accordance with European Standard EN 50419

3) Information for Users

According to the timelines and requirements of European Union member state WEEE legislation, the following user information is provided to customers for all Inepro branded products subject to the WEEE directive.

“This symbol on the product or on its packaging indicates that this product must not be disposed of with your other household waste. Instead, it is your responsibility to dispose of your waste equipment by handing it over to a designated collection point for the recycling of waste electrical and electronic

equipment. The separate collection and recycling of your waste equipment at the time of disposal will help to conserve natural resources and ensure that itis recycled in a manner that protects human health and the environment. For more information about where you can drop off your waste equipment for recycling, please contact your local city office or the Inepro company where you purchased the product.”

4) Registration and Reporting

Inepro will fulfill all legal requirements and register with national authorities, on time, in all relevant countries. Registration and enforcement dates are country dependant. Inepro will also ensure that any information required for the calculation of Inepro’s producer obligations will be provided as of the date

specified in national legislation.

5) WEEE from users other than private households

Subject to applicable laws and where replacement products are being supplied by Inepro, we will ensure the proper recycling of waste resulting from any brand of non-consumer electrical and/or electronic items purchased before August 13th 2005 arising at Inepro customers’ (other than private

householders) locations in the European Union. For Inepro products sold after August 13th 2005, Inepro will ensure the proper recycling of waste resulting from those products arising at the customer’s

locations in the European Union The costs of recycling described above are included in the product price as standard. The costs of collecting such waste from customer premises are not included in Inepro’s standard offer; however Inepro can provide either a chargeable collection service, or addresses of locations where customers can return their products.

6) Treatment

In accordance with Community waste legislation, Inepro confirms that treatment and recycling of WEEE done on behalf of Inepro, either by a collective scheme or individually, will be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the WEEE Directive, as set out in the implementing legislation of the member states, including requirements respecting special treatment for specified parts

and overall recovery rates achieved.

7) Information to Recyclers

As required by the WEEE Directive, Inepro will provide reuse and treatment information for each type of new EEE put on the market within one year after the equipment is put on the market. Inepro will make required information available to reuse centers by the date specified in member state legislation,

typically within one year after the new products have been put on the market or sold after 13th August 2005.
